Organizations & ClubsThere are many different clubs and organizations in our town. Practically one for every age group, both male and female. Some of these are Beavers, Cubs, Brownies, Sea Cadets, AYSC and Church Organizations.
The Baie Verte and Area Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1974. Ever since its incorporation, it has seen a steady growth where today there are 57 business members from the Peninsula.
The Chamber has always been a progressive, active business organization. Besides representing the views of the business community, this Chamber actively involves itself in many community based development initiatives including the annual Mining Conference, Regional Craft and Trade Show, Scholarship Fund, Spree by the Sea Festival.
ServicesThere is a regional cable company (Persona) with digital cable available. Newfoundland & Labrador Power Company provides electricity. There are two gasoline service stations, several dining establishments, bars and a couple of bakeries as well. Aliant Communications provide phone access to the Peninsula. There is also cell phone service and internet access. First Choice Optical provides vision care. Propane gas is available at service stations and fuel oil is distributed by Esso, Irving Oil and Ultramar.
Baie Verte has one drug store, three grocery stores and three clothing stores, two furniture stores, four convenience stores, a liquor store, a dollar shop and a hardware store. Two funeral homes provide service for the Baie Verte Peninsula (Wimbleton’s and White Dove). |
