Subject: Baie Verte JCP Projects

The Town of Baie Verte has been approved for 3 JCP projects this summer
as follows:



  1. Centennial Park Revitalization

  2. Marina Waterfront Development

  3. Siding and Roofing for the Maintenance Depot



To select participants for the projects, the Town of Baie Verte would
like to create/update a list of interested people. Please forward your resume
to the Town e-mail (townofbaieverte@hotmail.com)
or drop it off at the Town Hall (you may also indicate which of the three
projects you would prefer to work on). You may contact the office by phone
532-8222 for more information.



Note: To be sure your application is not missed, please forward your
information again even if you have already contacted the Town office earlier
this year.



In general, to be eligible to participate in a JCP project work
placement participants must:



  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
    legally entitled to work in Canada;

  • Be unemployed;

  • Meet the definition of an insured participant as
    per the Employment Insurance Act (EI Act). This means you:


    • Have a current claim for Employment
      Insurance (EI) benefits; or

    • Had an unemployment benefit period that
      ended within the 36 months (3 years) prior to the date of requesting
      assistance; or

    • Have had a benefit period that included
      a maternity or parental claim that was established within the 60 months
      (5 years) prior to the date of requesting assistance, after which you
      remained out of the labour market in order to care for a newborn or newly
      adopted child and are now seeking to re-enter the labour force.

BOATERS WHO RENTED DOCK SPACE AT THE MARINA DURING THE 2016 SEASON HAVE UNTIL JUNE 30, 2017 TO SECURE THE SAME BERTH BY MAKING PAYMENT. AFTER JUNE 30 THE UNPAID BERTHS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE TO OTHERS.
PAYMENT MAY BE PAID TO DOYLE HEWLETT.

The Town of Baie Verte
has received an application for a Home-Based
Business-Music lessons, Servicing and Repair at 5 Pioneer Avenue.


Any person who wishes to comment on the above application may do so by
writing the Town Council on or before 4 p.m., June 27, 2017.


This notice is given under Section 22, Schedule C of the Town of Baie Verte Land Use Zoning Regulations.

Conditions of
Auction



1) The procedure for submitted bids is as follows:

a) A letter is submitted to the Town Hall in a sealed
envelope (by hand or by mail) clearly providing contact information and specifying
the bid amount(s) offered for the lot(s) the interested party wishes to
purchase. Furthermore, the outside of the envelope will clearly:


i) Indicate the subject of the envelope is "Baie
Verte Municipal Land Sales Sealed Bid".


ii) Identify the lots for which the enclosed bid(s) apply.

b) In a separate envelope (delivered by hand or by mail) a
bid deposit will be submitted to an amount of 10% of the stated minimum bid
values rounded to the nearest whole dollar.


i) The method of payment for the bid deposit will be cash
or cheque which will be promptly deposited into the Town bank account.


ii) If a cheque does not clear, the bidder will be charged
a $40 NSF fee and will be asked to resubmit their bid deposit or have their bid
rejected at the discretion of Town staff.


c) Bidders will not be notified their bid has been
received unless they visit or call the Town Hall (709-532-8222). It is the
bidder's responsibility to ensure their bid has been received.


2) The procedure and subsequent events for awarding bids
is as follows:


a) On July 14th, 2017,
the envelopes will be opened and the highest bidders for each lot will be
identified and declared to be the "winning bidders".


i) To be guaranteed for consideration, all bids and
deposits must be received prior to July 7th,
2017
. Any bids received after this time but before the opening of envelopes
may be considered or rejected at the discretion of Town Staff.


b) The winning bidders will be contacted by their preferred
method of communication as indicated in their bid letters. Upon receiving this
notification, the winning bidders will have 14 calendar days to finalize the
purchase of their lot by submitting to the Town the outstanding difference
between their specified bid price and their bid deposit.


i) Once a winning bidder finalizes a lot purchase, all
other non-winning bidders for that lot will have their deposits refunded
(available for pick-up at the Town Hall or by mail if requested by bidder). The
Town will attempt to return these deposits promptly.


c) If a winning bidder declines to finalize a lot purchase
or does not respond within the 14 calendar days as per section 2(b):


i) The winning bidder's bid deposit will be forfeited to
the Town.


ii) The next highest bidder for the lot will be declared
the winning bidder and steps outlined in 2(b) and 2(c) will be repeated.


3) Any bid amounts that are less than the specified
Minimum Bid values will be rejected.




2017 Canada Summer Jobs
2017 Canada Summer Jobs
The Town of Baie Verte is currently seeking students to fill 2 positions with the Town and 2 positions under the Spree by the Sea Committee.
Positions are 35 hrs/week for 7 weeks.

Tentative start date July 4.
Please drop resume at the Town Office.



Land for Sale

After
receiving a number of requests at the Town Hall, the Town of Baie Verte would
like to assemble a list of residents with land for sale. We will enter your
information on our list if you send an e-mail to townofbaieverte@hotmail.com with
the following 4 items:

Name

Phone number


3.
E-mail address; and 


4.
Civic address of the land you have for sale



If
you would like for us to forward along your information whenever we have a
request, please give us written authorization to do so in your e-mail (and
clearly specify which information items we have the authority to release). If
you would not like for us to distribute your information, we can send you an
e-mail when we receive a request and you can follow up with the person yourself
(if they give us authorization to do so).



If
at any time you wish to remove your information from our list, please send us
another e-mail letting us know. By May 1st, 2018 we will also discard all such
information on hand and send out a new request.

Snow Clearing Regulations

Snow Clearing
Regulations




1) No person shall park any vehicle on
a highway within the Town
in such a manner as to interfere with, hinder, or obstruct snow
clearing operations during a snowstorm and thereafter until the highway has
been completely cleared of snow.


2) No person shall park any vehicle on
any highway
in such
a way as to interfere with, hinder, or obstruct the normal flow of traffic.


3) During
the period from the 15th day of November in each year to the 15th
day of April in the succeeding year, both days inclusive, no person shall park
an unattended vehicle upon a highway within the Town between the hours of 12
midnight and 8:00 a.m.


4) Any
vehicle parked contrary to these regulations will be fined or towed at the
expense of the owner.


5) The placing of snow (blowing, scoop, atv, etc) on any town street, and
the sides of the street, is against the law and will result in fines being
levied.


6) Garbage
Boxes/Containers/Shelters must be moved back from the curb/sidewalk a minimum
of 10 feet as not to impede snow removal from Town Streets and Town owned
property.

The Town of Baie Verte request all residents to refrain from ATV, dirt bike, motor bike etc. use on Town owned green-spaces, ie: soccer field, playground.  If damages continue the Town will be taking further actions.  The RCMP have been contacted and will be patrolling the area.

Curbside Garbage Collection
The Town of Baie Verte would like to remind residents that although Snow Clearing Regulations state that garbage boxes, containers and shelters MUST be moved back from curb/sidewalk a minimum of 10 FEET as not to impede snow removal from Town streets and Town owned property, the Garbage Collection Regulation still requires garbage to be placed CURBSIDE and properly covered or in a garbage container on collection days. Failure to do so will result in non-collection. Thank you for adhering to these Town Regulations.
